Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive overeating and to carry this message of recovery to those who still suffer. OA members differ in many ways, but we are united by our common disease and the solution we have found in the OA program. It is not a religious organization and does not promote any particular diet. It addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. OA is not just about weight loss, weight gain or maintenance, or obesity or diets. OA is not affiliated with any public or private organisations, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine we take no position on outside issues. They approach food addiction recovery by abstaining from addictive foods, following a nutrition plan, and working through the traditional steps. There are no dues or fees for members we are self supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations.
